South Side Beta Club Begins Season of Giving

By Jessica Cupples
The National Beta Club is a student centered organization that continually develops and nurtures individuals. At this moment the South Side Beta Club is working on a project called the "Red Cross Care Bags."

One gallon zip-lock bags are filled with emergency items including toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, comb, mouthwash, and shampoo. Senceca Gaydon, a senior at South Side, has finished her project.

"I'm in the Beta club because I get the sense of helping people i don't know, " said Gaydon.

"We will do a project every month," said Judy Gammon, Beta Club advisor. "Our biggest project will be the food drive from November to Christmas break," said Gammon. They will need each student in the school to bring five cans. The project will be called: 5 Cans to Feed 500 Families.

To join Beta club you have to have a B average or above. Ninth graders may join after their first report card showing a B average.
